In 1986, at the Faculty of Psychology of the UAB, three young students —María Rosa, Rosa María and I, Encarna— shared more than just notes and endless coffees. We were bound by a deep friendship and an insatiable curiosity to understand the relationship between emotion and sensoriality.
What then seemed like nothing more than an academic exercise ended up planting the seed of a dream. That dialogue on “The Brain and Emotions” sparked in us the idea of creating a place where the science of the human and the art of the senses could come together.
A year later, in the autumn of 1987, we opened our first perfumery in Cerdanyola del Vallès: a space designed to transcend the simple purchase of a perfume and become an experience where fragrance, beauty and emotions converse in perfect harmony.

At Ópalo, we start from a conviction: every person needs to feel heard, valued, and recognized. With that idea, our project was born, shaping a unique space where guidance, care, and emotion come together to create transformative experiences.
From the very beginning, we placed at the heart of our culture both self-demand and the sensitivity to anticipate and respond to the needs of each client. Because we believe that every woman is unique, and that true beauty arises from the balance between the outer and the inner self.
We call this vision Psychoperfumery: a concept that transcends traditional perfumery to become a place of well-being, elegance, and self-care. This is Ópalo.

We are passionate about perfumery, cosmetics, makeup, fragrances, and especially about how these elements can influence personal well-being and harmony. We believe in the effectiveness of a treatment, in the beauty and joy of color, in the charm of accessories, and in the power of a perfume to evoke emotions.
As Tennessee Williams once said:
“The violets in the mountains have broken the rocks.”
From our beginnings 37 years ago until today, we have remained dedicated to offering the very best in perfumes, cosmetics, and high-quality treatments, always choosing iconic brands with which we share principles and values such as exclusivity, integrity, innovation, respect for the environment, and, ultimately, a commitment to excellence.
